I will be 15 in 4 months, but anyway i am going to order the X-treme XP-707 Electric Pocket Bike, and i was wondering if i could get pulled over driving it around to the store and stuff like that. I live in Bend, oregon.

It still qualifies as a vehicle,….. unless the route to the store is on private property, you can be cited. (you are a minor… your folks would be cited)

That includes the sidewalk, as that is also public property. …. sorry.

i have a xtreme xg550 a gas stand up scooter. it says there illegal to drive in Canada but i drive right by cops and they dont bother me. But my scooter looks like a normal scooter a pocket bike might classify as a motorcycle where you live.

no its electric and people ride them alot so it isnt illegal if it is u can always stop by ur local secretary of state and get a moped liscence for it.i had a gas mini bike and everyone would bitch how loud it was in your case its electric so no exhaust means quiet and tho i never got pulled over for riding it in the streets.

Thanks for going green, but it’s still illegal to ride without a license on the street and that is not going to happen in these circumstances.

LTMQ…..probably not believe it or not. Smog laws or permits may be some kind of a problem. I would just do it, the ticket would just be a fixit.

I’m wondering if the the GP MX3 Mini Pocket Rocket or the Cagllari illegal to ride in Woodhaven, Michigan. I am planning on buying one from minipocketrockets.com for $ 199. I’ve already looked up like the laws and stuff but I’m still not exactly know. Please help me out. Everyone in my neighborhoods like knows me because I deliver the local newspaper, The News Herald if this helps in any way. They wouldn’t mind the noise, anyways I wouldn’t ride for like 5 hours, just for a half hour a day.

These are not street legal

Too small of tires to be considered a motorcycle.

Too powerful and too fast to be considered a moped or scooter.

These are only legal to ride on private property or on a race track.

All pocket bikes are not legal on the road. Nor are they legal on sidewalks, bike paths, bike lanes, alleys, or public parking lots.
Only legal on private property.
Don’t waste your money on one of these motorizes toys.

Unfortunately, pocket bikes are outlawed nearly everywhere except private property (with permission) or a riding facility. If you are in the country with not many people around a passing cop wouldnt care but in mainstream society they are illegal. sorry its just the way it is. cops see you they pull you aside and you get a fine or a warning whatever depending on their mood

First of all it is not a motorcycle it is a toy and is not legal on the street or sidewalks any where. You can only ride it in your yard.

For the most part, pocket bikes are not street legal in the United States. Although specific laws vary from state to state, most models do not met the necessary requirements and are therefore illegal for use on public roadways. The limiting factors are often size requirements since more states require the seat of a motorcycle to be at least 25 inches off the ground. There are a number of violations they can get you o. Just to name a few, pocket bikes don’t have indicator lights for night driving. Since they’re so slimmed down, these mini bikes don’t have rearview mirrors or horns or signaling lights for turns. They do not have plates since the states won’t allow the bikes to be registered for a number of reasons and unregistered vehicles cannot be operated on the public streets. The mufflers are too small to guard against noise pollution, and they cannot be insured. Just being on the street on a pocket bike is considered reckless driving. All these factors, among others, could warrant a ticket up to $2,200.

Some models of larger “super” pocket bikes, with headlights, turn signals, brake lights, a horn and speedometer meet nearly all the requirements and can be registered in most states for legal street use. In most cases the only modification is adding a rearview mirror and brackets for a license plate. Some states will allow you to register the bike as a unique/homebuilt, if there are only minor modifications needed to meet the requirements.

When using a pocket bike on public roadways, it is treated much the same way as a motorcycle and the rider much have some form of insurance. The bikes are also required to go through regular inspections and the rider must wear a helmet. Some states will classify the pocket bikes as mopeds while other considers the pocket bikes full motorcycles. If it is classified as a regular motorcycle, then a special motorcycle license is required. Otherwise a regular drivers license will be enough.
