Question by cuteprettyinpinkaryl: Are the aprilia 125 and the cbr 250 real bikes or are they mini bikes like pocket bikes?

Best answer:

Answer by JayJay
They’re full-size bikes for adults (not too heavy though!)

Answer by whatever man
NO, they are full sized bikes with smaller engines

a 600cc bike can weigh the same as a 250cc bike

Answer by Trevor
They are definitely REAL BIKES, I am considering the Honda CBR 250 this spring.

Answer by Billy Conway
There are 100% real bikes! They are just a bit smaller displacement than most modern bikes.

Go back to the 80s and below, and a CBR 250 would be about an average bike! And The Honda Elite 250 scooter was the biggest displacement scooter you could get! Now its just a small scooter and many scooters are 400-650 cc+!

These days, we need a liter bike just to be considered a reasonable highway commuter! Funny. But it is because people drive 75-80 MPH most of the time on the freeway, therefor we need a bike that can cruise nice and smooth all day at 80 MPH with plenty of power to spare for passing. A 250 is typically out of the question here, with the exception of the Ninja 250, which can do triple digits!

A pocket bike is a non street legal 47-49 cc 2 stroke very small replica of a larger sports bike. They typically have a single speed transmission with a top speed of 30 MPH. They are made by cheap chinese manufactures in general and are of very poor quality, with the exception of real pocket bikes like polini pocket bikes.

A mini bike is typically a little put put bike with a single speed transmission or CVT with a small 4 stroke engine of 3.5-6.5 HP. These may be homemade, a kit, or bought. The engines look and sound very close to lawnmower engines, although they are very often mistaken for lawn mower engines while they are really horizontal shaft utility engine and lawn mower engines are vertical shafted and cannot be reversed due to oil lubrication design. They have a top speed from 20-45 MPH depending on gearing.

Question by : How to ride a 49cc pocket bike?

yeah, i’m thinking about buying a pocket bike but i’m wondering do they have clutches like bigger bikes, do they have gears??

or do you just start it up and you’re ready to ride w/o change gears or using the clutch to take off?

please, only answer if you have/had a 49cc pocket bike.

Best answer:

Answer by scooterboy
a pocket bike is an automatic , once you seat on the bike you place your hands between your legs to grab hold of the handle bars which means that your knees will be sticking out alot as your legs will be in a v shape and your feet will just about hold onto the side foot pegs..

Answer by cant spell!
Dude, I mean kid, they are weed eater engines on wheels you don’t need any thing ut a helmet to ride those toys just sit on and go.

Answer by Billy Conway
They are usually pretty easy to ride, depending on your size. It also depends on what kind of pocket bike you get. Yes, they are a bit underpowered, but I understand how your feeling. It is a bit scary if you have never ridden a motorized 2 wheeler, but pocket bikes are not scary at all. Most of them are a single speed automatic clutch job, but some of the bigger models use a 4 speed semi automatic transmission. These are pretty easy, kind of like a pit bike.

They have an automatic clutch, all you have to do is shift the gears. I would recommend a higher end more expensive pocket bike over a junk pocket bike. Don’t get the $ 179 pocket rockets, these things are truly junk and will fall apart. They only go 30 MPH, and have no acceleration.

If you have a little money, go on Craigslist and look into a polini pocket bike. They are a bit expensive, but those little things haul ass! They are also automatic single speeds or sometimes CVTs, but they have major HP.

Or you could get a 49 cc Honda pit bike. These are easy to ride as well. Look for a Honda CRF/XR 50 on craigslist. They run around $ 700 used and will last you a lifetime if you take proper care of them! I have many motorcycles, and my CRF 50 is the absolute best more reliable motorcycle I own to date. Starts first kick every time, and will run a true 45 MPH stock.

Those cheap pocket bike sites claim 47 MPH, but it is REALLY 47 KPH. I have seen them GPSd at 30 MPH tops. But if you want a pocket bike, look at the bigger 4 stroke 110 cc 4 speed models, not the best quality but you’ll be much better off than the cheap 2 stroke models!

Good luck!

Answer by mot-oh
You sit on the seat and you twist the throttle. Full auto.

Answer by Max Cruise
Dude, you sit on the bike and twist the throttle. No gears to change. That said, you are 6’4″ tall. You are way too tall to ride a non-street legal pocket bike.

Best answer:

Answer by Steezey
Change the electric motor. Make it bigger or add more current to your motor.

Answer by Joe l
Yea u should go to pocketbikeplanet.com they have experts riders that can help you out with pocket bikes. I suggest you get a more powerfull battery like 6 12v batteries and also get a better motor. Or you could buy a gas pocket bike.

Answer by Josh P
get a better bike..actually get a real bike bro.haha a pocket bike come on dude you got to be kidding me.lol sorry

Answer by dirtrider
sorry i gotta agree with that other guy, a electric pocket bike!!!???
even the petrol ones go like s**t

Mabey switching the motor with the one in your vacuum cleaner will make it faster!!

Answer by dirtytricksracing@sbcglobal.net
It is a toy not made to go faster and probally not safer to go faster with it.

Question by Toki: are mini choppers pocket bikes ect legal to drive in peoria az?

what are the details of any laws about them?

Best answer:

Answer by Candid Chris
Not likely, but you could contact your local police and ask them.
Added: @ Max – Thanks, next time I’m in Peoria, Az I’ll rent a mini-chopper-pocket bike! (did it say if an Oregon MC license will work in Arizona?)

Answer by Max Cruise
Straight from the Peoria AZ website.
Q. Are mini bikes, scooters, go-peds, or pocket bikes legal?
A. Pocket bikes (mini motorcycles) are no different then any other motorcycle and must be registered with MVD, insured and the driver licensed.

They cannot be ridden on city sidewalks or in any City parks, the Peoria City complex or city parking structures
Any public street with four or more traffic lanes or a speed limit greater than 30 MPH.
Riders under 18 must wear a helmet.
Hours of operation: 8:00 am to sundown.
Must have a headlamp visible from 300 feet.
A rear red reflector visible from 500 feet.
A yellow reflector on each side visible from 200 feet.
Must have a muffler.
No high performance exhaust.
Must have a brake.
Cannot carry passengers.
Cannot carry packages which do not allow the operator to have at least one hand on the handlebar.
Must obey ALL traffic laws.
BUT here is the catch. Pocket bikes may not pass the requirements to be registered with the MVD. Also, insurance companies may choose not to offer insurance coverage.
Respectfully, stay away from these motorized toys. Don’t waste your money.
**Note, you have to be a licensed rider to operate a pocket bike**

Best answer:

Answer by Max Cruise
Age is not an issue. Mini pocket bikes are not legal for the street.
Can’t ride them on bike paths, sidewalks, or public parking lots. Only legal on private property with owner’s consent.
Please do not waste your money on a pocket bike. Save your money for a real motorcycle.

Question by Alex M: How can i make a 49 cc mini bike faster?

I just bought a 49 cc pocket bike and its really slow at accelartion, at top speed it goes about 40 mph, and im trying to find a way to make it much faster.
im thinking about possibly mounting a 125 cc engine on it and i need some pointers on how to do it

Best answer:

Answer by Craig M
get off of it.it’ll go faster.

Answer by kungdrew
put it on the trash collection truck they get up to sixy on the interstate on the way to the landfill

Answer by Nate
you guys…. don’t laugh, he’s being serious,

here’s what you do
1) wait for your balls to drop so you can handle this kind of thing.
2) buy a CBR, R6, Gixxr, whatever suits your fancy over 600cc’s
3) teather the pocket bike to the real bike and drag away, bet you could get 150 if you have a newer bike!

Answer by bikinkawboy
I was thinking about some smart answers also, but I think enough of them have been said. You must keep in mind that with only 49ccs to work with, you don’t have much to work with. Actually, at 40 mph I think you’re doing pretty good. My buddy’s 13 year old son has one and 18-20 mph is about all the better it will do. 125cc isn’t that big, but physically you may have a problem getting it to fit. I expect the drive chain is bigger and you’d have to change rear sprockets.

Then again, mating a hot 125 to that little thing might create a real fire breathing horse that can’t be tamed, so be careful. Like Frankenstein’s monster, it might be too beautiful and misunderstood for this world and you’ll have villagers chasing you with pitchforks and torches.

i want to buy a small bike. i searched and i found pocket bikes.. what are these? what i meant to say was, which is better the gas type or electric? which is better and what are the things i need to consider in getting one? thanks a lot for reading..

Best answer:

Answer by camaro425hp
pocket bikes are really tiny, gas is always better because you don’t have to wait for it to charge once you wear the battery down, with gas you fill it right back up and away you go, depends on what your planning on doing with it, if your looking to buzz around the roads you may want to consider asking your local license department because they may only allow scooters on the road unless you want johnny law after ya.

Answer by JetDoc
If you’re looking for transportation, then forget pocket bikes. They’re not street legal in most places. Get a moped or a small motorcycle that you can actually ride on the street. Check with your state’s DMV to see what kind of license you’ll need.

Answer by SafetyDang
first off where are you.. depends if your in a city or a small town. check your local laws to find out. or call your local police station

Answer by So-crates AGAIN NorCal R&S Club
Mini pocket bikes arent street legal. They are too small – they do not reach the minimum height requirements for vehicles on the road.

So, the easy answer is NO. Its not street legal in the first place. That said, if it were street legal, you are required to be licensed in order to drive anything on a public road in the USA. And, you cant get a license at 11yo.

However, it is perfectly legal for an 11yo to ride a minibike/pocketbike on PRIVATE land.

Answer by Dash R
Even if its street legal, you CANNOT legally drive it on the road.

I want to know if there is something out there that is just like a car except mini and you do not need a license. I mean something like a pocket bike, just in car form. something you could get into, close doors and drive it. It would run on gas and there would be a roof like a normal car.
if you do know of such a think give me the link or url.
I mean something that looks exactly like a car inside and out just smaller and that doesnt require a liscense.Something to just drives up and down your street.
